India’s combined steam and coking coal imports rose 33.8% week-on-week to 3.65 million tonnes (MT) during 20–26 September 2026, from 2.73 MT in the previous week.
Steam coal arrivals increased 35.4% to 2.43 MT, while coking coal shipments rose 30.8% to 1.21 MT. Indonesia remained the dominant thermal supplier, contributing 1.46 MT, while Russia led the coking-coal basket with 0.50 MT, followed by Australia at 0.46 MT.
